A couple of firsts for us on this camper!
1st time doing a U-Shape layout, 1st time doing an ‘industrial feel’ interior. We think it came out pretty well indeed! The customer wanted to keep the carpet lining to a minimum on this van, to keep a metal/bare wood industrial feel where possible. Not something we’ve done before but we think it’s awesome! We added a U-Shape furniture layout in Matte White, full camper kitchen pod with water, gas and fridge. We also added a full 12v electrical system and smart split charge system. This van was collected from our workshop, loaded up and then driven straight to Spain on a Big Cat sighting trip! If this sort of conversion interests you, drop us a message to see what we can do! This van was brought to us to do some much needed interior updates! A previous owner had made the kitchen units but it was time for a refresh. We started off by moving the battery and split charge system under the drivers seat. Next we fitted a swivel to the double passenger seat.
The original units were removed and replaced with gloss white units! A smaller kitchen unit with soft close draws was installed, with low profile rear units. These were chosen so when a cushion is added, it will create a full width bed whilst maximising storage options! To finish the work we removed the old curtains and fitted stunning VanShades thermal blinds! We love an all black van! This one received a gentle tap from the lowering stick, now running 50mm lower on H&R springs. Totally changed the look and drive of the van without compromising functionality or comfort. We also had the tracking done to ensure everything is straight and true.
We had this T5.1 LWB in to add a single, removable, kombi rear seat. We used 100% genuine parts for all of the install to ensure safety was at the forefront of the conversion. We used VW factory torque settings for all the bolts and seatbelt. Also, it looks like it was installed from the factory, always important! We chose a T6 seat as this allows the option to fold the seat flat or tilt forwards.
This T5.1 came to us having already been converted, but with no windows in the barn doors. The customer found this to be rather dark and claustrophobic, so we added in 2 barn door windows to let in plenty of light! The privacy tint however keeps things nice and private from the outside.
This T6 Kombi received some lovely upgrades! Top right picture is what we started with! We sound deadened and then insulated the van first, then supplied new ply panels and fully carpet lined the rear of the van. We also covered the roof in a fabric a 99% match to the factory headling! We also installed flush LED lights in the roof and tailgate, along with switches and USB/12V sockets on either side for when camping. The seats also received a full reupholster in genuine leather with a 'Tyre Tread' centre pattern. We think the transformation is a strong one!
We had this lovely T5.1 LWB in the workshop this week for some great upgrades! First we went about fitting a Semi-Flexible 100w solar panel and solar controller to help keep the leisure battery topped up whilst off-grid, fitted width ways on the van as the customer has plans to put a roof rack on in the future, mounted towards the front end. Next was the every popular Autoterm diesel heater! An essential for year-round camping and an addition the customer felt would help them use the van more throughout the colder months. We opted for an underslung install as the leisure battery in this vehicle had already been fitted under the drivers seat. Once the factory plastic undertray had been refitted, you can hardly see there is a heater there!
Ruby is a 2018 VW Transporter Camper van, in the striking Cherry Red colour. The conversion has been completed to meet the high demands and standards of the modern camping experience. With practicality and usability also at the forefront of design, there is ample storage space in the drawers and behind the sliding tambour doors for a family of four and all their belongings! The seats and bed have be re-covered in plush vinyl and GTI tartan fabric with matching red stitching, because style and comfort can be combined! Talking of comfort, the van has a built in Wallas XC Duo hob/heater that runs on diesel from the vehicle tank (yes that means no gas!), and fresh running cold water and sink. Your perishables will be well looked after in the 50l fridge with small freezer area. Also, your table is stored in the back of the side door, neat! Power comes in the form of a 12v leisure battery, which is charged by the vehicle battery when driving, a 240v lead (included) or by the 100w solar panel on the roof for a more off-grid/eco approach!
And let's not forget the Skyline pop top roof! The roof and bed operate separately, letting you raise the roof and bed to gain valuable standing room! Then at night the bed can be lowered into place for sleeping room for 2. |
